Support The Life Raft Group
Although many patients with GIST are being successfully treated with the oral cancer drug called Gleevec (Glivec), a molecular targeted therapy, GIST patients continue to die either because they develop resistance to Gleevec or because of delays in diagnosis or obstacles to accessing therapy.
Why Care About a Rare Cancer? New molecular breakthroughs have identified this rare cancer as having a comparatively simple genetic mechanism. This has transformed GIST from an isolated rare disease into a model for beginning to understand how to treat many other cancers.
Donations to the Life Raft Group, a 501-C-3 non profit organization, are tax deductible in the United States.

Our philosophy is to have a transparent budget with professional checks and balances, and to focus our limited resources on those services most vital to the survival of GIST patients. All contributions are acknowledged in writing, as required by the IRS. Each year we file a 990 to the IRS, as required by law for non-profit organizations. In addition, the Life Raft Group has retained the CPA firm of Mackey & Mackey, P.L.L.C. of Farmington Hills, Michigan to conduct a financial audit this year and will make a copy of these reports available upon request. We also welcome questions.
Ensuring that no one has to face GIST alone
